SUHSD Adult Education Mission Statement and Schoolwide Learner Outcomes.


HISTORY

Adult education started in San Francisco, California in 1856. The Sweetwater Union High School District’s Division of Adult Education (SUHSD Adult Ed) began in 1933 as the Sweetwater Evening School for Adults.


Logo for the South Bay Adult Education ConsortiumIn 2015, SUHSD Adult Ed became a member of the South Bay Adult Education Consortium to implement regional plans for adult education. Our members include Southwestern College and Coronado Adult Education. We work with workforce and education partners and community stakeholders to ensure adult students are prepared for life, for work, and to support their families and strengthen communities, no matter where they are in their educational journey.

Currently, our division has four adult schools serving the cities of Chula Vista, National City, Imperial Beach, San Ysidro and the rest of the South Bay in the county of San Diego, California.
