Facilities Maintenance Service Technician (New for 2019/2020)

ORIENTATION:  Students must sign up for an orientation by either calling or visiting the school office.  Orientation will be held on August 1st, from 9am to 11am in the Building Trades Classroom at the Chula Vista Adult School. (address below)

Schedule Information:

Monday & Tuesday: 8:00 am – 4:00 pm with a 30 minute lunch break.

COST: $50 Supply fee – this includes the cost of the Fair Housing 3-hour online training.

This course prepares students for entry level employment as an Apartment Maintenance Technician. Students will receive basic training in Customer Service, Carpentry, Plumbing, Electrical Repairs, Drywall repair, appliance installation and troubleshooting techniques, HVAC troubleshooting and maintenance and the proper procedures in emergency conditions.

Students must also complete OSHA and Customer Service courses provided by Southwestern College.  Additional information will be given at orientation.

Building Maintenance and Repair I

VA Approved Course

This hands-on class covers basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, flooring, and other skills used in the industry. You will receive experience in and understanding of all aspects of the industry and become familiar with the skills, tools, and materials used in building maintenance and repair for eventual employment in this field.

COST: $125 supply fee each level

Construction Worker – Roofer Waterproofer (Apprenticeship)

This course is designed to develop the principles, practices and competencies of the apprentice in all phases of the roofing and waterproofing industry.
