This career pathway prepares students to become certified in small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) enabling them to gain employment as qualified remote pilots. Students completing these courses will understand the capabilities and limitations of the technology to include hardware and software. They will understand the environment in which UAS technology will be applied, to include both the physical and political environment. They will explore the capabilities and limitations of human remote pilots and using that understanding become a responsible member of the aviation community. Safety is also addressed as students explore the concept of safety and the role of managing risk and organizational decision-making to improve unmanned aviation safety.

COURSE 1: sUAS Safety Ground School

This class is designed to train individuals to pass the FAA Part 107 Certification required for commercial and government remote pilots. The course focuses on small UAS weighing less than 55 pounds. Topics include: applicable regulations, airspace, weather, operational safety, roles and responsibilities, aeronautical decision making, and airport operations.
