Advanced Manufacturing

In these courses*, students will learn about materials, design, safety, as well as develop leadership skills for working in the field. Students will develop technical skills in a variety of areas, practice workplace and teamwork skills, and learn the importance of incorporating new technologies as they are developed. Learn to design and build our future!

*Courses must be taken in sequence to complete the Advanced Manufacturing pathway.


COURSE 1: Introduction to Engineering Design (IED)

In this course, you will learn how engineers apply a design process to solve real-world problems. You will work individually and as a member of collaborative teams to apply math, science, and a variety of engineering tools (including 3D modeling software) to design and document your engineering work.

COURSE 2: Computer Integrated Manufacturing (CIM)

Are you ready to manufacture the future?

In this course, you will learn how all of the products you use every day are manufactured – from the product design to the manufacturing processes that involve robotics and automation. You will learn to use computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) as tools to design and create products. As a part of a team, you will design, build, and program your own manufacturing system model.

PROSPECTIVE STUDENTS MUST meet the following prerequisites before enrolling in this class:

  • Completion of Prerequisite Class: Introduction to Engineering Design (IED)
